BIOGRAPHY

Valentin Renner was born in Munich in 1998. During his last year of school he was a pre-college student for jazz drums at the University of Music and Arts Munich with his former teacher Werner Schmitt. He finally began his bachelor's degree after graduating from high school and successfully completed it in summer 2021.

 

Since autumn 2020 he´s also been studying with Jeff Ballard at  Jazzcampus Basel and finished his master degree in summer 2024. Valentin Renner is a laureate of the prestigious BMW Young Artist Jazz Award 2023. With his new trio RENNER he recently won the "Biberacher Jazzpreis" 2024, second prize of "Junger Münchner Jazzpreis 2024" and the "Förderpreis des Bayerischen Jazzverbands" 2023. As a member of the Shuteen Erdenebaatar Quartet he won the "Deutscher Jazzpreis 2024" in the category "Ensemble of the year" and "Junger Münchner Jazzpreis" 2022. As a member of the Luca Zambito Quartett he also won the first prize of "Junger Münchner Jazzpreis" 2021.

 

He is an active member of various ensembles such as:
